HIFU has been proven in clinical studies and hospital use around the world to be safe and effective for the treatment of localised prostate cancer.

The outcomes of HIFU treatment are measured by post treatment PSA levels and the results of post treatment prostate biopsies.

Post-treatment PSA levels of less than 1.0 are reported in greater than 80% of patients and negative biopsies in greater than 90% of patients. Patients who have recurrent disease after radiotherapy and brachytherapy are also candidates for treatment, although the cure rates are not yet known for this group.
